Well since reading stuff from a stranger can be very scary these days, I guess I should begin with a little introduction.
Ahhem…well where do I begin? Well I was born 17 years ago in a town I do not remember (and most likely neither do you). Well I live 5 miles from Bob Dylan’s childhood home up in the Iron Range, (and I can see why he’s never been back here since he left) but by no means call this place home. I’ve moved 9 times in my life (mostly Nth East MN but a few other places as well) and have been privet, public, and home educated, but mostly I afilliate myself to the latter. I am not what you would call a soical butterfly, more like a soical platapus, or some other awkward creature, but as quite as I seem, I do actually have stuff to say, and writing them out is usually the best way I can say what I want to say with at least making a little bit of sense, so if you can put two and two together, that’s one reason I have this blog.

Anywhoo, to sum up any other points of interest in my life, I am a song/story/skit writer, I play piano, guitar, bass, and sort of harmonica (marry had a little lamb counts right?), also among other accomplishments in my life I’ve slid down the great wall, asked a star of the Growing Pains a theological question, and have almost killed slightly famous rock star. Yes, yes exciting indeed. But, however and furthermore, the #1 passion in my life involves the one who Americans now-a-days only feel comfertable using as an interjection. Yes it starts with a J and it’s not Jerry Springer. Yep that’s right Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, and apart from Him there is no other name under heaven given among men to which we can be saved, nope not even Oprea. But one of my goals in this blog (among just actually writing blogs) is to bust up some of the stupid stereo types Americano has about Jesus and really Christianity in general (and if we have time I’ll get to homeschoolers) but yeah my goal to get you to THINK, which I think (no pun intended) is very much a-lacking in our modern culture where our favorite things to do involve stareing at shiney rectangular objects. and you will also notice through out my blogs that I am not the best speller in the world (hence the usuer name) but I am hoping…or is that hopping no i was right the first time…that you will look past my faults and by God’s grace will enjoy any of the many future blogs! 😀

Now to begin, I will be posting a bunch of old blogs, from my old myspace blog (definitely not the place to blog!) so if you want to critizice them, critizice my past self and not the present! 😉

This was written back in the fall of 06′ and by now I have one year of Post Secondary (college courses at a local community college that counts as highschool credits) under my belt and tough at this stage of my life I think it’s the best option, I still think that homeschool overall one of the best forms of education.  Although school is school and there are plenty of pros and cons to every option, but here are some of the top pros I had to the form of schooling of which I am the fondest…

School is back and for me this year will be different from many of yours, as I’m going into my last year of home school.  Now I’ve had many different conversations, discussions, and arguments about my opinions of home school with many people (and maybe you as well), I won’t get into all those arguments now (thankfully for you) but I’ll just give my top 11 reasons why I think home school is just a little better then other forms of it (which I’ve all been apart of).  So with out further ado here they are:

#11: sleeping in: Well this used to be a good thing about home schooling until I decided to make it a habit to get up early like you guys so I could get my work done faster.  Man, why did I do that?

#10: No commute: Well, at least I don’t have to worry about getting up ridiculously early and having to catch a bus or something just to go and sit in a crowded room in an uncomfortable desk.  Yep I can do my work in my bed if I wanted to, and last year I did.  But I found a problem in doing school on my bed; I kept falling asleep.

#9: Eat whenever:  I don’t have to worry about schedules to eat, I can eat breakfast or lunch anytime I want, even when doing work!  How sweet is that?  Well I’ll tell you:  as sweet as eating candy in Algebra 2!

#8: Never Late or Tardy: Now in some schools this isn’t a big deal, but I remember when I was in school, always feeling rushed from only having 5 minutes to get all my stuff and get from one class or another.  In home school I don’t have only a certain time to do all my work, I can spend as long as I want on a subject till it’s done, and I don’t have to do sprints in-between.

#7: No High school drama: No I’m not talking about drama class, I’m talking about all the petty flirts, rumors, grudges, and emotional drama that some highschoolers (females especially) seem to thrive on.  I’m lucky I was only in 7th grade when I was exposed to all that drama, I can only imagine that in high school it’s much worse.  Between people flirting with each other in study hall or girls passing notes during class, it gets kind-of annoying after a while, and I’m glad I don’t have to deal with it anymore.

#6: No stupid Evolution or Liberal Propaganda:  I could write a whole blog about how stupid evolution is and how it’s not really science at all (but I won’t right now, and spare you of the reading strain).  Instead of having to deal with getting taught that junk, I have a sweet science book that gives scientific reasons why evolution is bogus (and it also has interesting scientific reasons against global warming and o-zone hole problems).  And about liberal propaganda: it might not be in every school (and if it is I have no idea how bad) but from some things I hear, most schools tend to be more liberal then not.  With things like sex-ed classes teaching stupid things about sex before marriage, and other classes that promote homosexuality or whatever, it doesn’t sound good.

#5: Not exposed as much to swearing and junk like that:  To make it short: SWEARING IS STUPID!  And by being home schooled I don’t have to hear it all the time like some people.  This is good cause when you hear swear words all the time you start getting desensitized to them and not caring anymore when someone swears and that’s not good.

#4: Just as much time with friends:  One of the biggest objections to home school is:  Man that would stink; you’d have almost no time with friends!  This is simply not true (unless you don’t make efforts to get with friends apart from school) & here are some reasons:

1: Home school groups allow me to hang out with other homeschoolers while you guys are at school (exp. my best friends were home schooled & we hanged out a ton last year).

2: My friends from my sweet youth group get together to hang out a lot and not just on church days.  In fact there was a period of 12 of 14 days last winter during school where I got together either with church or home school friends.

And 3, even if I went to school I wouldn’t have anymore time with friends then I do now, cause most of my good friends that I hang with aren’t in my grade or town.  In fact I would have less time with friends because instead of staying out late with friends I would have home work, which brings me to another great thing about home school…

#3: No Homework (or all homework, either way): Going to the other type of school I still felt like I was half home schooled because what ever you don’t finish in school or study hall you have to bring home to do.  This way all my work is homework, and for the most part I don’t have to worry about starting a subject just to stop in the middle of it and finish it at home.  I get it done all at once, and that saves me a lot of time.  This means more of the day I’m free to do whatever and there’s almost never night work!

#2: Flexible schedule:  One of the best things about home school.  You’re not tied down to a schedule at all.  If you want to take a day off and go some where, you can and you won’t miss anything.  If some of your home school friends call you to hang and you want to do your work latter instead of earlier, you can.  If you want to go fast and get your work done before noon, or slow and spend extra time on a tough subject, you can.  Eventually you have to get your work done and can’t keep on just putting it off, but still the schedule’s very flexible and that makes me very happy sometimes.

#1: Learn Better and more, about God and other stuff that gets you grounded in a Christian world view and prepares you for the real world:    Over all in home school it’s easier to learn stuff in the friendly confines of your home (test scores prove it).  And learn more stuff, or more of the stuff your interested since you can customize your lessons to you.  This provides me to be able to learn more about God and the stuff that matters (which they don’t teach in public school).  And for those who argue home school shelters people too much from the world, and it leads to people who are unprepared for the real world, well I don’t buy that.  You can still be exposed to the world in home school, it just limits to how much exposure you get.  And that can be a very good thing as in the early years of our lives it might be more important to get a good grounding in the Christian world view before we start getting into situations where we are tempted or forced to defend our believes.  Not to say that we should never be put into those situations, but hey even Jesus waited about 30 years to begin His main ministry.  Overall home school can get you more prepared for the real world cause your more grounded in your doctrines before you start to defend them.

No I’m not saying it’s evil to go to public school.  There are several Christians in high school that are mature enough to go through compromising situations, and be an influence for God, and that’s great.  They should continue to do so, but early on if we have to get an education either way, why not get a Christian one?  If I have gained nothing else though this whole home schooling experience, hey at least I’ve gained that.
